HTC Sensation Review

Smartphone today have grabbed much popularity among users because of their value rich features. Time has changed and from single core processor phones, people are looking for dual-core phones. There are several dual core processor phones in the market such as LG Optimus 2X, Samsung Galaxy S II etc and most of them have been well received by customers. Realizing that that dual core market is going to expand in coming days, Taiwanese cell phone manufacturer HTC has ventured in the dual core scenario by launching a dual core phone, HTC Sensation. The phone has been one of the most anticipated smartphones of the season, but the question is does Sensation much like its name be able to create ripples in the smartphone segment? Check out our exclusive HTC Sensation review to know the answer for yourself.

HTC Sensation Looks And Design

Sensation measures 126.1 x 65.4 x 11.3 mm and weighs 148 grams. The dimensions of the phone are very much close to the dimensions of phone which has 4.3inches screen. HTC is known to construct handsets which boast of solid looks and Sensation is a proof of that. The all round curves of the phone gives it an elegant look and the aluminum case makes the phone look very much similar to that Desire S. The handset is quite good for carrying out long talks and the concave screen of the phone really gives it a chic look. The phone is very comfortable to grip and overall we were very impressed by the looks and design of the phone.

HTC Sensation Display

The device is equipped with a 4.3 inches gorilla glass display which displays 16M colors of resolution measuring 540×960 pixels. The super LCD capacitive touch screen responds to the minutest of touches and is the colors displayed are quite sharp and vibrant. We were a bit disappointed to note that the viewing angles were not up to the mark and the colors got a bit washed out when the screen was tilted. But inspite of not being AMOLED in nature, the sunlight legibility of the screen is quite good. We were easily able to read the text in direct sunlight. Below the screen one gets the four capacitive touch screen button while on the left hand side you have the microUSB port and the volume rocker buttons.

HTC Sensation Apps

The phone has several in-built apps such as

  • Google Search
  • Maps
  • Gmail
  • Youtube
  • Google Talk
  • Organizer
  • Document Viewer
  • HTC Places
  • HTC Locations
  • Ovi Maps

HTC Sensation Features

HTC has bundled Sensation with several features. Let us first talk about the operating system of the phone. Sensation runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS. Powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, operations in the phone are carried out pretty fast. With a 1GB of internal memory, with an 8GB of memory card included one can store practically store unlimited entries and fields. The memory can be increased to a whopping 32GB with the help of a microSD card. The new lock screen also impressed us and the phonebook with deep social networking integration is also a nice feature.

HTC Sensation Keyboard

The phone boasts of a virtual QWERTY keyboard. The layout is quite good and we enjoyed typing and e-mailing using the keyboard.

HTC Sensation Camera

HTC Sensation Android is packed with a 8MP camera which clicks pictures of resolution 3264×2448 pixels. The camera is equipped with dual-LED flash and video light too. The interface of the camera is quite good and you will find most of the controls on the right hand side. On the left hand side you get the virtual zoom lever. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed by the image quality of Sensation. Despite the camera being 8MP in resolution, the details captured were not that great. Though the contrast is good, the colors appeared to be a bit washed out. We found the still pictures of Galaxy S II and Optimus 2X better than that of HTC Sensation.

HTC Sensation Video Quality

We were however, impressed with the video quality of the phone. HTC Sensation Android is capable of recording 1080p videos @ 30fps which are quite good. The videos are vibrant and smooth and offered good details.

HTC Sensation Connectivity And Multimedia

Connectivity is seamless with HTC Sensation mobile phone. The phone supports quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE. There is also support for 3G and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Hotspot and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP profile. There is also a microUSB cable 2.0 and a 3.5 mm audio jack which completes the connectivity set of the device. With Sensation HDMI port, you can connect the phone to television. Web browsing is also a delight on the phone.

Thanks to the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread web browser, browsing gave us a great experience. The browser features double tap zooming and text-reflow. Sensation is also fitted with a FM radio. The radio was bit slow to start and stop. The audio output was quite loud and clear and even after we plugged in the earphones, it was very impressive.

HTC Sensation Accessories

During HTC Sensation unboxing, we found the following accessories with the phone

  • Charger
  • MicroUSB cable
  • Headset
  • 8GB MicroSD card
  • User Manual

HTC Sensation Battery Life

The phone is powered by a standard Li-Ion 1520mAh battery which provides a talktime of around 8 hours (2G) and 6 hours (3G).

HTC Sensation Price

Price of HTC Sensation in the USA is approximately $ 500 while price of the phone in India is approximately Rs 30,500.

It is hard to dislike HTC Sensation. If you are looking forward for a robust dual-core processor phone, then you can surly bet upon HTC Sensation. The phone with its robust specifications and features will not disappoint you.
