It is going to be a tough fight for two great smart phones.
Google Nexus 4 vs Apple iPhone 5 is fight of two great OS Android 4.2
and iOS 6. Here we compare their specs
The iPhone 5 is getting yet another big rival from the Android side.
The new Nexus 4 from LG is about to hit stores and it will be taking on
the new iPhone in many aspects. The LG-built Google Nexus 4 is a
brilliant product. It comes with a 4.7-inch display, quad core processor
and the new Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Here we put the handset in a
comparison with iPhone 5. Apple’s 2012 iPhone has been up there for a
while and it is slowly accumulating momentum after a row of complaints.
Software: The fourth-gen Nexus handset is to premier Google’s new
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Even being an upgrade to the current Jelly Bean,
the new Android firmware doesn’t have the rumored Key Lime Pie moniker.
Anyway, it is to offer a set of amazing capabilities like Photo Sphere,
Daydream, revamped Google Now and multiple user accounts. The new
iPhone 5 runs iOS 6, the latest update to the Apple mobile firmware that
also has lots of high-tech offerings for you.
Display: The Nexus 4 comes with a 4.7-inch WXGA True HD Plus display
that offers a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels at 320-ppi. Well, its
screen is laminated for keeping safe from scratches and drops. It uses
the new G2 technology that embeds touch sensor into the Gorilla Glass 2
layer. That is, along with better touch capability, you get protection
for your device’s screen against scratches.
The new iPhone is up with a bit smaller 4-inch display that. It
offers a native resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels at 326-ppi. Compared to
Nexus 4, it is not anything amazing, because, the former has a better
screen with a large display. Apple also makes use a novel method to for
integrating touch sensor and display protection, which called “in-cell
touch.”
Processor: The new Nexus handset is quite muscular when it comes to
the processing performance. It is equipped with a 1.5GHz quad core
Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip inside a Krait processor. It is supported by
Adreno 320 graphical processor and 2GB of RAM. Of course, it is faster
than iPhone 5’s A6 dual core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and backed by 1GB of
RAM and PowerVR SGX 543MP triple-core graphics unit.
Storage: It is both frustrating and pleasant that Nexus 4 is to come
in just two base memory versions; 8GB and 16GB. It is disappointing as
you won’t be able to store much more data in the device, which also
lacks a microSD slot. But, it becomes happy news because price of the
handset will be on lower side. The new iPhone, at the same time, comes
in three higher memory versions; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. It also doesn’t
have a microSD slot for memory expansion.
Camera: Both handsets come with 8MP rear cameras. They offer nice
camera features like auto-focus, LED flash, geo tagging, touch focus and
more. You can also capture video at 1080p at 30fps. But, iPhone 5
certainly enjoys an advantage here. It features an advanced iSight cam
that is specially improved to let you take low-light images and support
panoramic pics. The handsets also have nice front cams for video chat.
Connectivity: Quite surprisingly, Nexus 4 misses 4G LTE. It comes
with 3G and HSPA+ 42 only. It is when iPhone 5 is the first smartphone
from Apple to tout 4G LTE. Both the handsets show off Wi-Fi, DLNA, Wi-Fi
hotspot and Bluetooth 4.0. Nexus 4 has microUSB and NFC, which you
can’t see on iPhone 5, however.
Price: Apple has just copied prices of iPhone 4S for the new iPhone
5. It comes for $199, $299 and $399 respectively for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB
models. The Nexus 4 is to start at $299 (8GB), while the 16GB version
is to go for $349. T-Mobile will be carrying the device for just $199 on
two year contract.
