Apple unveils mini iPad tablet with prices starting at $329 (£269 in the UK) to compete with Amazon and Google's tablets ( Expected price is between Rs.19K - 25K )
Screen size: 7.85inch
Resolution: 1024x768 pixels, the same as the original iPad, but on a screen that's half the size
Price: starting at $329 in the US and a reported £269 in the UK
Connectivity: 3G and 4G versions and will
Compatibility: will run all the existing iPad and iPhone apps
The price isn't as low as some had thought Apple needed to go for to immediately kill the Kindle Fire or Nexus 7. They're likely breathing easier in Amazon as a result. The Nexus 7 has its fans, but it will also keep some pricing space beneath the iPad mini – which has to be good news for Google.
The specs otherwise are precisely as expected - apart from the inclusion of 4G *cough*.

We just got an invitation for the next major
HTC event and it will take place on February 26. This means that the
Taiwanese manufacturer will change its usual policy and will announce
its new smartphones the day before the MWC starts, rather than at the
event itself.
Perhaps HTC really has something special to share with us and they just can't wait. The rumored Android-running HTC Edge
with a 720p screen and a quad-core CPU might just turn out to be the
large scale announcement that mandated the different approach. And seeing how things shape up, this better be the case, as there will be plenty of action going on that Sunday. Sony and Huawei already confirmed that they will be holding their own events on the same day, while Samsung is expected to join them too.
We are yet to see if Nokia will hold an event on the MWC eve as they did last year. In any case, the MWC marathon is bound to start a day early this year, so get you geek goggles ready.
Naturally, we'll be on site, covering the whole MWC for you as it unfolds.

Perhaps a taste of what we can expect at MWC next month, the LG X3 looks to be one of the early challengers to HTC in the quad-core market. The robust processor comes courtesy of the Tegra 3 chipset by Nvidia, and while the 720p screen measures in at a quite large 4.7 inches, it supposedly manages to retain a slim 9mm waistline. LG plans to stick in a 2000mAh battery to power it all.
Other highlights include 16GB of internal storage, 8MP camera (plus 1.3MP front-facing), capacitive buttons, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and an NFC transceiver. Also, the X3 should come with the latest Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, right out of the box.
Expect the X3 (if it is still called that upon release), by the end of Q2 this year.
Motorola made its first two announcements for 2012, unveiling the stylish MOTOLUXE and the rugged DEFY MINI smartphones. The two mid-range handsets run Android Gingerbread aim to deliver solid smartphone experience without breaking the bank.
Actually, we've already met the Motorola MOTOLUXE, which has been available in China for some time now, under the name XT615. Coming with a 4" LCD of FWVGA resolution (854 x 480 pixels) and an 800 MHz Scorpion CPU, this one will hardly top any benchmark leaderboards, but its Snapdragon chipset should allow it to run all productive applications easily.
Connectivity is nicely covered here with 7.2Mbps HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, microUSB and a 3.5mm audio jack. For the multimedia fans, the Motoroal MOTOLUXE offers an 8 megapixel camera and DivX support. The onboard storage is just 512MB, but we assume there's a microSD card slot for expanding it (though Motorola hasn't mentioned it explicitly).
Motorola XT615 MOTOLUXE is expected to come to Europe and Latin America starting in February, but there's no information about its pricing just yet.
The other new Motorola smartphone is called Motorola DEFY MINI and, as the name suggest is a more compact version of the popular Motorola DEFY. It comes with a 3.2" HVGA display, sitting under a sheet of Gorilla Glass and offers water and dust resistance.

The Motorola DEFY MINI is powered by a 600 MHz CPU and has 512MB of RAM. It offers a decently geared connectivity suite - dual-band 3G with HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS and a 3.5mm audio jack. Camera enthusiasts probably won't have much to love about the DEFY MINI as it offers a modest 3 megapixel main snapper and an unimpressive VGA front-facing camera.
Motorola DEFY MINI is expected to be available in China under the name Motorola XT320 and in select countries in Europe and Latin America starting in February. Once again there's no information about pricing.
Apple users and lovers ... Here's an exciting information specially for you !!!
The rumors for the next Apple product have already started and this one states that Apple might be readying the iPad 3 for a launch on Steve Jobs’ birthday.
According to a Chinese newspaper, the company is reportedly set on launching its new tablet, the iPad 3 on February 24th which happens to be the birthday of Apple founder and late CEO Steve Jobs.
But Apple do to usually go hunting for special dates to launch their products, instead they believe that launching their products would make their products special and it is highly unlikely that they will announce the product unless its completely ready.
So we can’t be sure right now if the launch would indeed take place on February 24th but we can be sure that it’ll be a great tribute to Steve Jobs if it does.
With 3D viewing taking imagination of people to a very different level, cell phone manufacturers are trying to come up with handsets which give consumers an enthralling 3D experience. Realizing the 3D boom, LG has come up with a smartphone, LG Optimus 3D which seeks to give people 3D experience on the phone itself. Of late LG has been trying to come out with innovative products to recapture its losing market share in the smartphone segment. It came out with its first dual core phone LG Optimus 2X and now it has come up with its first 3D phone, LG Optimus 3D. Check out our exclusive LG Optimus 3D review to know what the phone has in store for you.
LG Optimus 3D Looks And Design
Optimus 3D measures 128.8 x 68 x 11.9 mm. We expected this since the device boasts of a massive 4.3inches screen. The phone is a bit bigger than Optimus 2X and you cannot slip it easily into every pocket. The handset is quite bulky weighing 168 grams. Despite being constructed entirely out of plastic, Optimus 3D looks a pretty good-looking handset. While the front of the phone is made up of faux brushed metal, the back of the phone has a rubbery plastic along with a metal stripe. Because of the thickness of the device, initially you can face a problem while gripping it. But all in all, LG has done a fine job in giving a neat and polished look to Optimus 3D.
LG Optimus 3D Display
The phone is equipped with a massive 4.3 inches 3D enabled LCD capacitive touch screen. The screen is capable of displaying 16M colors of resolution measuring 480×800 pixels. One of the major features of LG Optimus 3D is its screen. One thing to note is the fact that the 3D mode works only in landscape mode and that only one person can share the 3D goodness of the screen. The 3D affects are very impressive. The colors displayed are sharp, vibrant and crisp. We wished that the screen to be AMOLED in nature which would have improved sunlight legibility. Anyways, overall the screen performance will impress most of the users and kudos to LG for carving out a great screen.
LG Optimus 3D Features
Apart from the 3D feature, another great feature of the phone is its processor. Optimus 3D is equipped with a Dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor. Thanks to the processor, operations of the device are made fast and at the same time one gets to enjoy high end videos and games on the phone. LG Optimus 3D P920 offers a robust internal storage of 8GB. The memory can be increased to a staggering 32GB. It also has several in-built apps such as:
- Google Search
- Gmail
- Maps
- Google Talk
- Document viewer/editor
- Organizer
We were disappointed to find that the phone runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo) instead on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). This is one of the serious issues with Optimus 3D considering that Gingerbread has been around for quite sometime. However, it can be upgraded to Android 2.3.
LG Optimus 3D Gallery
Optimus 3D comes with a standard Android gallery which organizes every image and video into very neat folders which supports pinch zooming and sorting by date. With the help of the send feature you can quickly share photos via Facebook, Twitter, Picasa etc. Zooming and panning is quite fast and smooth. There are a couple of great interface modes which is certainly looks good and runs smoothly.
LG Optimus 3D Camera Performance
One of the major reasons for the heavy weight of Optimus 3D is the presence of a couple of 5MP camera sensors. With the help of these you can capture 3D images and videos. Thanks to the camera apps, users can switch between 2D and 3D mode. One also gets advanced features such as autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging. The camera captures images of resolution measuring 2560×1920 pixels. Thanks to the 3D picture effect, the quality of images is really fine. In some of the cases we found the images to be blurry. The camera of the phone supports various focus modes and digital zoom.
LG Optimus 3D Video Quality
Video quality of the phone is pretty good. In 2D mode, the device captures 1080p videos@30fps while in 3D mode, the videos are captured at 720p@30fps. Videos were very smooth and crisp and we did not witness any considerable lag while playing videos.
LG Optimus 3D Connectivity And Multimedia
With a smartphone of this quality one expects solid connectivity and LG has not disappointed us. The phone supports both 2G as well as 3G network. Local connectivity of the phone is boosted by the presence of Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, DLNA and Wi-Fi hotspot. There is also Bluetooth 3.0 supporting A2DP and EDR profiles. There is also an HDMI port which helps you to connect the device to a television offering HDMI support. Presence of microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack further enhances connectivity options of the device.
Another issue with Optimus 3D is the fact that there is the absence of FM radio in the phone. Now-a-days even the most common phones available in the market are equipped with an FM radio. We were impressed by the audio quality of the phone and did not face much problems hearing in crowded places. The video player of the device is also pretty cool.
LG Optimus 3D Carrier
The carrier of the phone is T-Mobile.
LG Optimus 3D Battery Life
Battery life is a disappointing aspect of the phone. The device is equipped with a standard Li-Ion 1500mAh battery which provides a talk time of around 4 hours. We felt that the battery life of the phone could have been improved.
LG Optimus 3D Accessories
During Optimus 3D unboxing, we found the phone to be equipped with the following accessories
- Charger
- Battery
- User Manual
- Headphone set
LG Optimus 3D user manual will help you to better utilize your phone.
LG Optimus 3D Price
LG Optimus 3D price in the USA is approximately $ 300. Price of the phone in India is approximately Rs 37,000.
LG Optimus 3D Price
LG Optimus 3D price in the USA is approximately $ 300. Price of the phone in India is approximately Rs 37,000.
Optimus 3D is a solid smartphone which with its dual core processor and 3D experience gives you a great Android experience. If you want to enjoy 3D on your phone, then Optimus 3D is the phone you can surly bank upon.
As the 5th generation of the iPhone is on the verge of being released, and with all the speculations spreading on the Internet about the iPhone 5, people are anticipating and desperately waiting for the launch of the smartphone. Many fans and current Apple iPhone consumers are wondering what groundbreaking features Apple will add to the new iPhone 5.
The much anticipated Android tablet, Aakash, will not be launched this year. You need to wait little more to own the world’s cheapest Android Tablet, priced at Rs 3,000.
A representative of DataWind, the Canadian owned company that is developing Aakash for the government of India, has recently announced that an upgraded version of Aakash Tablet would be available in the market by the end of the January, 2012.
Aakash was supposed to be available in retail stores by 2011 November end. So, the actual launch has been delayed for about 2 months. The Data Wind representative said that the delay in launch of the tablet had been due to improvements in the tablet and some issues related to manufacturing.
The good news about this postponement is that the improved version would include certain upgrades in terms of Operating System and processor speed. The original version was announced with a 366 MHz processor, the upgraded version would possess a much faster Cortex A8-700 MHz processor along with graphics accelerator and HD video processor.
Other specifications include a resistive touchscreen, , 2GB internal memory, and 256 MB RAM, one standard USB port, 3 mm audio jack, 7 inch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, GPRS and WiFi support.
The company had previously announced that the premium tablets available in the market are for the higher class and DataWind could not compete with them at the price it is offering the tablet for; also added that it is manufacturing high quality products in India for Indian users at a reasonable price.
The chief executive officer of DataWind, Suneet Singh Tulu, had earlier said to the media that they had not set any time frame for future launches yet they were working on 9 and 10 inch Android Tablets. They would include capacitive touchscreens and the company would try to price them under Rs 5,000.
