Angry birds for ANDROID atlast

Better late than never. This proverb goes well with Angry Birds, the most popular mobile game, which is developed by Rovio Mobile, the Finnish computer game developer. The game is now available for Android users. The game was first released with Apple iPhone and readily became one of the most popular games to play on mobile.

This game became so popular that different versions of these games have been created for gaming consoles and personal computers. This game is considered to be the biggest success in the history of mobile applications so far.

In the game, the birds are supposed to destroy all the pigs on the field. The players employ a slingshot to release the birds at the pigs. As the player progresses through the stages, new birds start to appear. The birds have unique abilities, which can be activated by the player, to destroy the pig’s fortresses. Each level of this game requires skill and logic.

Like the Apple iPhone, Angry Birds has the smooth graphics on most of the Android devices especially on sets like Dell Streak, HTC Desire or Nexus One as it runs at a resolution of 800 x 480.

The game became available for Android OS (which is certainly the most popular mobile operating system) on 15^th October, 2010.

Release of the game has been a successful one, on Android. The demo of Angry Bird has been downloaded more than any other game in the Android market.

This game has been downloaded more than 30 million times and 12 million of those are free downloads, till 2010. It is known to be downloaded more than 5 million times on Android till December 2010 from the date of its launch. It has been downloaded around 2 million times in just two days from the date of its launch.

The game is a paid one (Apple app store@ $0.99) in iPhones and iPads users, but it is absolutely free for Android users. It is mainly because the game comes with Google/AdMob support.

There are many users who find the ads so disturbing. Rovio came up with a solution for them. There is an updated version of the game, which is free from ads. But the user has to buy the game. This seems to be a good way to deal with piracy problems with games.

The game was not available in the Android market initially. The developer decided to launch it on GetJar first. After a day, Angry birds made its way to the Android market.

According to Peter Vesterbacka of Rovio, “Selecting GetJar as the place to launch our first ever full Android version of Angry Birds was an obvious choice,”

“GetJar’s global reach and popularity as well as their unique App It! download service ensures that we reach a massive audience of fanatically loyal Angry Birds addicts.”

The demand of the game was so high that GetJar was experiencing some technical problems in their site. GetJar asked the Android users to download it from their mobile site.

Angry Bird Rio and Seasons, both are available for Android.

Rovio launched Angry Birds Rio for Android platform in December 2010. It includes twenty-five levels with Christmas theme. The updated version of the game, which was titled as Hogs and Kisses, released on February 2011. Angry Bird Seasons Easter edition is also available in the Android market for download.

In Angry Bird Seasons, the birds visit China for the 3000 year old harvest festival, known as mooncake festival. The pigs think that they can hide themselves in the midst of celebrations. Help the angry birds to chase the pigs through 30 different levels that are full of rabbits, lanterns and pagodas.

Angry Birds Rio launched on Android OS in March 2011. The game initially came with two chapters with 30 levels each. In May 2011, a new chapter called Beach Volley was released with 30 new levels in its first update.  In June 2011, the first half of a chapter Carnival Upheaval was released and the second half was launched in its third update, i.e. in July. Airfield Chase, the first half of a chapter was released in August 2011 and the second half is expected to release this month. The last update is supposed to be on November.

The game was initially available in the Amazon App Store for free. In the app store it costs $0.99 whereas the HD iPad option costs $2.99. Initially AT&T users had a problem to install from Amazon.

Unlike other versions, here the main job is to free the imprisoned birds, instead of chasing the pigs. Here, the birds are captured and taken to Rio de Janeiro and from where they escape and Blu and Jewel, two macaws.

There are some videos in YouTube that teaches you how to access locked levels without going through the previous levels, but this ends the thrill of the game.

This game is not exactly functioning on all the versions of Android. Device that runs on Android Cupcake 1.5 or lower version of android do not support this game.
